The domestic violence case originated from a complaint by Gopal's wife, who initially alleged physical abuse and an attempt to strangle her with a cable wire.

However, she later retracted these statements. In a video statement, she denied the dowry-related accusations, clarifying that the issue arose from a minor misunderstanding. She explained that her initial claims had been exaggerated due to external pressure from her lawyer and family.

In a subsequent video, she affirmed that her decision to amend her statements was made voluntarily, with no external coercion involved.

Meanwhile, Gopal and his family petitioned the Kerala High Court to dismiss the case against them. Gopal argued that the allegations were baseless, arising solely from a minor marital dispute. He emphasized that the complaint was a result of misunderstanding and that continued police action would unnecessarily disrupt their reconciled marital life.

He underscored that the complaint stemmed from a misunderstanding and that further police involvement would only disturb their reconciled marital relationship.

In light of these developments, the Court has now dismissed the case against Gopal and his family.

Rahul P. Gopal was represented by advocates Manas P. Hameed, Ipsita Ojal, Vimal Vijay, and Muhammed Shameem Paksan.
